6 Advantages of Using a Travel Agent for Your Next Trip

With planning a trip comes much needed time and stress. Many questions come to mind when planning your next vacation. Where are we going to go this year? What kind of deals and discounts can I find? What’s the best airline to fly or hotel in the area? What’s the best cruise line? That’s why using a travel agent can be your answer.

Travel agents come with a lot of helpful information and resources and can relieve some of your stress. Using a travel agent has many benefits that would be a great fit for you and your family. Here are 6 advantages of using a travel agent for your next trip!

1. Less Stress

Planning a vacation can be a stressful time for many and can take up a lot of your time as well. You need to choose a destination, book a flight, hotel room, cruise (if you decide to cruise), tours, transportations, and choose the best restaurants. And maybe even find some things to do and see at your destination for children. But what if all of this can be taken off your plate.

A travel agent can help you plan all this down to every last detail, taking all of your stress away from you. You would just have to sit back, relax, and let them take care of everything for you.

2. Better Deals

You don’t have to search every travel fare website for hours trying to find the cheapest flight or hotels.com for the best hotel at an affordable rate. Let your travel agent take care of this for you. They can find you better deals and discounted prices because they have more resource on hand.

They can find these better deals because airline companies, cruise lines, etc. will offer discounts and deals to travel agents.

3. Free Vouchers and Discounts

Another advantage of using a travel agent is you may receive free vouchers and other types of discounts besides flights and hotel stays. If there’s a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, honey moon, etc., you may receive some free amenities.

We used a travel agent when my husband and I went on our honeymoon, which happened to be a cruise. And from this we received champagne and chocolates in our room and a cake in the dining room. Another time we used a travel agent for a cruise, we received a book of vouchers, which included a free lunch and dinner in one of the specialty restaurants, which usually costs a fee.

Note: We used AAA Travel.

4. Their Expertise

If you decide to book through a travel agent, use their expertise as much as possible. You have a question about your flight, your cruise, traveling with little kids and the rules on planes, such as car seats, best transportation to and from the airport, the best sights to see and tours at your destination, ask your travel agent.

Use them to your advantage and ask as many questions as you need to, to be comfortable with your trip. They are equipped with knowledge and will have all the answers you need. Some may even be trained and have more expertise than other agents on specific destinations, such as Disney for example. There are specified Disney travel agents who are Disney experts.

5. Won’t Cost You Extra

Years ago I used to refuse to use a travel agent because I thought they charge a fee for their services. That is a myth. Travel agents do not charge a fee. Therefore, it will not cost you extra to use one.

6. Advocate

They can advocate for you. If you run into any sort of problem on your trip, such as losing luggage, a good travel agent will help you in anyway they can and try and get your vacation back on track. They want to make sure you are having the best time possible and they want to keep it that way throughout your whole trip.

So if it won’t cost you extra, it’s saving you time and stress from planning it yourself, and you may reap benefits such as free vouchers, better deals, and discounts, why would you not use a travel agent.
