Overview of an Indoor Waterpark we visited in the Winter

5 Reasons to Visit an Indoor Waterpark in the Winter

Planning a family trip for the winter months? Why not visit an indoor waterpark in the winter.

We tend to associate waterparks with the summer, however indoor waterparks can be a great family trip for the winter. This is a great way to break up the winter and go somewhere that makes it feel like summer. And who wouldn’t want that.

Here are 5 reasons to visit an indoor waterpark in the winter.

1. An Indoor Waterpark is a Way to Escape the Winter

Do you live somewhere snowy, wet, and cold? Are your kids getting restless during the winter months? An indoor waterpark is a good way to escape the winter and cold for a little while. At an indoor waterpark, you can stay inside where it’s warm, dress in your swim suit, and head into the water where you can enjoy the water slides, swimming, hot tub, the lazy river, a kids play area, and an arcade. Here you can pretend it’s summer and forget about the winter.

My family and I get restless during the winter, so an indoor waterpark has become a yearly family trip for us in the winter and with the way my son loves the water, it’s a perfect trip for us.

2.Cheaper During the Off Season

With winter being an off season, you can find great prices during this time. We usually stay 2 nights and always go in February, finding the best prices during that month.

Tip – Not only are rates cheaper in the winter, but they are also cheaper during the week. So if you are able to go during the week, you will get a better deal.

3. Fewer Crowds

Summer is a big time for waterparks. So it’s no surprise that waterparks (whether indoor or outdoor) would be crowded during the summer months. But you can find fewer crowds during the winter months, which means shorter lines and getting on rides faster and riding more times.

4. Kids Love the Water and Swimming

Do your kids love the water and swimming and can’t wait for summer? Why wait. Spend you winter vacation at an indoor waterpark and let them enjoy the water. Let them burn all that pent up winter energy at the waterpark. There is so much to enjoy there. Not just for the kids but for the parents too, such as water slides, hot tub, swim up bar, etc.

5. You Have Everything you Need in One Spot

Heading to an indoor waterpark, you will have everything you need in one general spot. You won’t even have to leave the building to go outside in the cold. You have the waterpark, hotel, arcade, fun activities for the kids, a spa, and restaurants (inside the park and in the hotel area). There is no need to leave the waterpark to go eat.

This post makes me all sentimental: Normally, I’m doing water gym and eventually hit the sauna four to five times a week. Normally…. Hence, seeing these people having fun in the waters makes me longing for….normal.

I had never seen an indoor waterpark until I went to the Midwest! Game changer, and some of them were huge. It’s awesome that they have these options available to be enjoyed in any season.

We have always enjoyed our indoor water parks, no matter what the season is! With a not so consistent British weather, we have always booked our accommodations in holiday parks and top criteria is it should have indoor waterpark, or at least an indoor swimming pool! It totally sorts our day, especially when we are travelling with kids!

Absolutely! They are great for anytime of the year. Great for the winter to get a break from the cold and snow, great for rainy days, great for the summer to stay out of the sun and not have to worry about suntan lotion for the kiddos.

These look so much fun. We have a place in my home town of Blackpool called the sandcastle which is awesome. A lot of my childhood was spent there with friends and my family.

I could happily visit a waterpark 365 days a year, provided it offers warm water and it is clean! What a great idea during these covid times!

Too cool! Great information. We both grew up not too far from the Poconos, hate cold weather, and NEVER thought to do this! Thanks for sharing!
